Here are some helpful tips for a Successful Recruitment Week:

Be yourself! There is nothing more important than being yourself during Rush. You’ll end up with the right fraternity for you, and you’ll be happy with your decision.

Evaluate each fraternity carefully. It is important to make an individual decision about which fraternities you will focus on during Rush. Make sure to compare fraternities and pick the one that has the most important ideals you are looking for.

Take your time. Joining a fraternity is a momentous decision and one that will affect the rest of your life. Be sure that the fraternity that has given you a bid is one you will be happy with. You do not have to accept a bid.

Dry Rush. Alcohol is not allowed at any formal Rush activities. National, University, and IFC policies stipulate that all activities associated with formal Fraternity Rush remain alcohol free.

Ask Questions. Make sure all your questions are sufficiently answered. Some possible questions you may want to ask are.

  • What is your membership education (pledge) period like? What is its purpose?

  • What are the time and financial commitments involved in joining your fraternity?

  • What are the grade requirements?
What are some of your social activities?

  • What makes your fraternity unique?

There are more men in American college fraternities now than at any other time in their existence, since Phi Beta Kappa was formed at the College of William and Mary in 1776.

• Nearly four and one half million are members including more than 350,000 collegians on campuses throughout Canada and the United States.

• 68 NIC member fraternities have over 5,300 chapters and 405 colonies at over 800 colleges and universities.
